It was with not much more than an old baking tray and his ingenuity, that K.A. Charles Perera, who hailed from the remote Southern village of Kodagoda, baked his first loaf of bread. And with nothing more than the irresistible aroma of hot bread, fresh off the oven as an advertisement, he and his loyal assistant Anthony Bas, went from door to door selling his products.
The quality and taste of his wares soon won him a steady, loyal and fast growing customer base, and it wasn’t long before the demand for his products justified him starting his own fully fledged bakery.
A century and several generations later, Perera & Sons has enhanced and expanded their founder’s initial business philosophy since 1902, and now, celebrates 106 years of success and goodness; qualities inherent in all its products and services.
